I am getting on in years and I thought
it time to document the costs of my shares for eventual sale and for
capital gains tax purposes.
I found capital gains tax can be delayed if
the shares are passed on and not sold.
By my reading of the ATO
website, the tax department wants to treat each purchase of shares as a
separate item.
The main problem I had was the work involved with 25 or so purchases
for the one company.
The other problem was how to evenly distribute the shares and a
solution was found, see the example.
I could not find on the web any example of a spread sheet showing share
transactions like consolidation, splitting, capital return or splitting.
I made a spreadsheet kit of modules that can be assembled to form a share spreadsheet.
The example spread sheets are in Excel format as saved by LibreOffice.
